USDA-Certified Ground Lamb
We only use the finest USDA-Certified, human-edible ground lamb in this healthy recipe. Lamb has a rich supply of high-quality protein and is an especially good source of zinc and iron. It is also rich in B vitamins and is one of the best sources of the amino acid carnitine.
USDA-Certified Lamb Liver
Lamb liver is a nutrient-dense food. Ounce for ounce, it contains the most concentrated amounts of protein and vitamin A. It’s a rich source of heme iron, the most absorbable form of iron. Liver is also high in copper, folate, riboflavin, niacin, phosphorus and zinc.
Long-Grain Brown Rice
Long-grain brown rice is loaded with B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and zinc and is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates.
Among many other benefits, cauliflower contains glucosinolates and thiocyanates, compounds proven to increase the liver's ability to neutralize potentially toxic substances that, if not properly detoxified, can damage cell membranes and molecules such as DNA within the cell nucleus. Cauliflower for dogs is also a great source of vitamins C and K as well as folate and manganese.
Carrots are full of antioxidant compounds and are one of the richest sources of the pro-vitamin A carotenes. The antioxidant compounds may help to prevent heart disease, cancer in dogs, and help protect good vision. In addition, carrots for dogs are a very good source of vitamins C and K, potassium and dietary fiber.
Spinach is used in our dog recipes because it is rich in beta-carotene and lutein and has excellent antioxidant properties. Spinach for dogs is also a great source of vitamin K, magnesium, folate and manganese as well as omega-3 fatty acids and zinc.
Blueberries are rarely used in food for dogs because of their cost but they are one of the best sources of antioxidants that can be found. One example is the presence of ellagic acid, a phytochemical known to prevent cell damage. Blueberries for dogs also provide the necessary soluble and insoluble fiber, such as pectin, which is essential for proper metabolic functions.
Safflower oil contains essential omega-6 fatty acids which, via prostaglandins, strengthen cell membranes and regulate every function in the body at the molecular level. Canola oil for dogs is both more common as well as more affordable than safflower oil but given the controversy surrounding canola oil and the superiority of safflower oil for dogs, we believe the expense is justified.
Omega Plus Fish Oil
Our Omega Plus Fish Oil is sourced directly from the world’s cleanest, purest, and greenest sources. This exclusive supplement is pure, potent, natural and detoxified, and provides omega 3 (fatty acids) in highly biologically available forms of EPA and DHA. It is also available for purchase separately to use with our DIY homemade recipe kit.
