Real Ingredients
Ground Venison
Venison is a lean protein meat that is rich in nutrients like vitamins B12 and B6, riboflavin and niacin, which all support a healthy and energetic metabolism. Venison also has high levels of iron which helps support red blood cells and boost energy as well. Venison may be considered as a novel protein for dogs that may have food sensitivities.
Butternut Squash
Butternut squash is extremely nutritious and rich in antioxidants like vitamin C and dietary fiber. It is also high in B vitamins, which are great for overall energy and digestion. Butternut squash is also rich in beta-carotene as a source of vitamin A, which is important for healthy vision.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a tasty source of vitamin A, which can help support healthy vision. Sweet potatoes also contain dietary fiber and are packed with vitamins B6 and C, manganese, and potassium, which aid in maintaining healthy digestion.
Brussels Sprouts
Brussels sprouts are high in antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, which help with inflammation and immune system function. Since Brussels sprouts are also rich in beta-carotene as a source of vitamin A and are high in vitamin K, they are great for vision health and for maintaining proper blood clotting. Brussels sprouts are also great for digestion as they are high in dietary fiber.
Cranberries
Cranberries are high in dietary fiber and packed with antioxidants like vitamins C and E. Aside from the benefit of aiding with digestion, cranberries also contain manganese and vitamin K, which are helpful for metabolism and essential for blood clotting, respectively.
Safflower Oil
Safflower oil contains the essential omega-6 fatty acid, linoleic acid, which can help promote healthy skin and is important for optimal immune function.
Fish Oil
Icelandic premium fish oil provides omega-3 fatty acids in highly biologically available forms of EPA and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids are important for maintaining healthy skin, a shiny coat, and brain development during growth.

All of our daily diets for dogs have passed AAFCO protocol feeding trials at Cal Poly Pomona. In fact, the trials conducted at the university were much more stringent than the AAFCO protocol standards, as the Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) of the university found the AAFCO feeding trial to be too rudimentary. The reality is our diets have passed trials that exceed AAFCO standards. JFFD is the first pet food company ever to conduct humane feeding trials at a major university using faculty and student dogs living happily in their own homes. Most pet food companies do not run trials at all and those that do tend to use laboratories that house beagles that live their lives for animal testing. Like everything we do at JFFD — we did it a better way! Learn more about our feeding trials here: A One of A Kind Partnership.
